Have flashed it with Wotanserver, seemed to go through ok, but hasn't made any difference to the phone.

I wonder if it's a screen problem then possibly? I have a K700i at the mo where the screen seems to be going white, sometimes it starts up normally but usually it really bright so that you can just see menus, text etc. but mainly white. It's the same in another K700i too, could be your W550i could need a new screen then.

Yeah I was thinking that. When the screen goes off, you can faintly see the menus, but as soon as you press anything it goes white again.
Are the screens expensive and are they easy to fit?
