> Virgin Media to sponsor Big Brother?

I've now lost respect for Virgin....expected better from Richard Branson.
Orange and CPW made the right decision, why Virgin decided to do this remains to be seen?

channel 4 cannot be accountable for what was said...
they can have a moral grounding but no accountability.
as they say "any publicty is good publicity" so im sure mr branson has done his sums properly..
oh and £3m to branson? not great deal is it?

Talking about Big Brother, I think it would be great if Omid Djalili was in it... such a good comedian.

I have recently joined Orange and would have been ashamed if they went ahead with it. Well done to the fruity network Orange. I think that BB has had its day and i never watched it from the first show you always get dim wits on it with no brains or talent and people i would not call celebrities. I wanna be entertained on tv not watch thick b*****ds sitting in a house doing nothing. Anyway rant over.

Why is this a bad thing? and why have you guys lost respect for Virgin Media?
What we all saw wasn't the Big Brother programme being racist, it was some of the contestants.
So why should the programme be classed as racist in some of your eyes?

Orange had the sense to seek advice from its staff about this, they obviously understood it was a serious enough issue and made the right decision....i've personally lost respect for Virgin because i thought they would have picked up on the fact the CPW pulled out and Orange decided not to take there place.
Big Brother is as much responsible for the racism as the contestants because they let it happen without taking any sort of action, they were milking it for as long as they could.
Channel 4 should have pulled the plug on BB when this happened, by not taking the appropriate action they are sending out the message that its ok to be racist on a Channel that was intially made to cater for ethnic minoritys.

whoa whoa here!
so becasue racism gets mentioned CH4 should pull a programme?
we live in 2007, people will and can express their views and beliefs/feelings and who are we to stop them?
and before you jump the gun, NO i do not condone racism but i do however feel it is a part of life and as such we should be more than ready to see it on TV, as i've said yes CH4 have a moral responsibilty but that's as far as it goes.
and for the record, no i don't think racism is right but it's grained within 300 years of Englsh heritage and you are not going to get people to stop thinking what they think.
while i feel sorry for the narrow minded people that don't see that racism is a bad thing, I do see that it's important to stick to your beliefs and heritage.

My personal opinion is that the programme should have been pulled yes, you have to remember that kids watch this stuff, by letting 3 white english girls make racist remarks towards a Indian lady on national TV and not taking any action is sending out the wrong message that its fine to be like this, although it might be ok for adults to watch this kind of stuff but children have impressionable minds and not knowing any better would think, oh that must be ok to do this because they are showing it on TV.
We live in 2007 yes, and in the multi cultural Britain we live in today this sort of stuff should not be tolerated at all....fare enough in the outside world racism is quite common and a reality, but if they had to show this on TV the least Channel 4 could of done was take action and punish the people involved.
you can't let racism go on because it in our heritage, there are no excuses if someone chooses be racist then that person should be given the appropriate punishment....its time a example is made of such people!
