Sl45 is definitely the first mp3 phone but as this is a site to praise e/// and se. E/// is the first with the idea to let user have mp3 on ones phone thru a dongle. I used to have one...and if not sony come into the picture. Maybe mmc is the preferred media i remember it was meant for t28 but i used it with my t39. E/// also first in getting a radio kit in 1999. I tried to use it on t610 but it just having problem...so i gave it up. Siemens also first in getting a slider and 4 color lcd disp s25.

Sorry, I had a memory fog there. It was my Motorola V525 that played mp3 (it had only 5MB memory)

And I had a Nokia 5510 also, and yes they play music, but in locked AAC format. But with 64MB you could fit a reasonable collection of AAC files (that could only be ripped with the Nokia Audio Manager that came with the phone).

Was Samsung M100 before the 5510?

great phone for an early mp3/phone attempt. Great for texting

Also worked as usb mass storage

Yeah the Samsung SGH M100 was the first mp3 player it was a very nice phone at the time and was a very pricey handset I wanted to get hold of one once and remembered that the price was around £400
