Asimo is little more then a toy!! It's remote controlled, and all actions pre-programmed!
Sony had Q-rio or something, a toy robot, and it is autonomus in the essence that it navigates by itself. So it's much better than Asimo. There are other toy robots for sale by other companies too..

The reason it's short is so that it is the same height as someone in a wheel-chair. Early versions were much taller.
Honda's real breakthroughs are in Asimo's control of motion. Its centre of gravity is finely tuned to match that of a human and it walks in a human manner not the jerky movments of a robot. And this latest version runs too! Not just walks fast, but runs as-in both feet off the ground!
It also climbs stairs and dances!
