Er no the P900 is Symbian UIQ,
and as far as i am aware this is not a new situation from seeing it on other Forums and is indeed something to do with BMW's implementation of the Bluetooth protocol and not all phones are supported. From what i remember BMW have no intention of updating the Bluetooth their profile either.

Managed to pair my N95 to the BMW Idrive/bluetooth. However, I had the car software updated in September 2006. Everything's fine but unable to download phone address book to the car so possible limited functionality. Can make and receive calls though via car. Check your car software and make sure with dealer that you have the latest version. Speak to someone techcnical at the dealership.

My Nokia firmware is 10.0.018 dt 15/3/07. There appears to be a new firmware in the offing : 11.0.025 dt 12/4/07 but yet to be released. Not sure what it'll contain but will keep checking the nokia update site regularly. Incidentally, what firmware are you on?
My car is a 525 D (E60) 2006 but not sure what BMW software level the car has been upgraded to.

Has anyone managed to pair their N95 with BMW Bluetooth. I have been trying like mad to pair them all weekend (2006 535d M Sport with Professional Nav + Bluetooth) but to no avail
BMW does support bluetooth 2.0 and it can access any phone which allows it to access the phonebook profile. Unfortunately, Nokia haven't bothered to implement this on their phones despite the fact that they market their latest phone is Symbian and this is part of the Symbian spec. If the information isn't made available then there is nothing that BMW can do short of rewriting the phone OS for Nokia.
Somebody really ought to sue Nokia for misrepresenting their products. Maybe that would do something for their arrogance.
