well firstly VAT is 17.5% so if you get the price / 100 x 17.5 = .... - from total = price without VAT. Not very hard to work out...

I don't know how the f**k you got £650 from 700 - vat its about 575...

Macbooks are pure value for money, last time I looked their spec was the same or better then those offered by other manufactures, esp on the core 2 duos at 2.0 or higher.

I say buy the mac and stop being so narrow minded, but thats what I always say, but I asume as your going for a big chunky laptop you want a large screen for watching porn on or something?

Needless to say its up to you, but shop around a bit and dont buy some shit laptop from pc world. do some research as pc world are over priced

@ luke the magic man

I worked the ex vat price out at £655.29 from the original figure of £769.97 (£114.68 VAT)

Mr Mechanic has forgot about the £69.97

Exactly what I was gonna say. MacBooks are in a way better than the MacBook Pros imo - like the case. I'd personally rather a macbook over a windows notebook. When I bought my laptop, for the money I had (aprox. 230quid) it made sense to go windows rather than mac as it would have been ibook clamshell for that much, which are cool but not really financially viable compared to my thinkpad t23.

anyway, next time i upgrade my desktop i'll be going mac - probably only a mac mini though...

imo, go for a macbook and use your vista license on it with bootcamp. never particularly used mac os x but from the use that ihave got of it i got totally hooked on it!

Does it really help to go on whit this mac stories you 2 are up with? He said he don't want a mac so let it be. Sounds just like 2 sailsman over in the big store who tells you to buy everything you don't need.

yuhuh seems pointless asking for help to me. about the porn...that weren't me who said that. although luke, there must be a fair few mac users that do watch porn, eh? lol - finally on the mac argu., macs run windows too! infact i thought there was some report about more stable due to the drivers/hardware in certain macs eg. the macbook. basically, if your gonna go for futureproof stuff, what your gonna get isn't, basically! it's old tech. now!
