I will be keeping hold of my P990 for now and until comes up with something to replace my P990, W950 & K800 in one fowl swoop with GPS integrated, until then i will continue to lug the 3 devices around!

That said i still think the P700i is an excellent succesor to the M600i and will sit well with existing M600 user's, but i think i'll take a back seat and wait for the P990's replacement!

@nanu*1 I skipped the p990i because I wasn't impressed with what it has got to offer. Now, aside from the better ram the p700 is no better than the p990i Imo. 3.2mp and wifi standards b and g aren't enough to make it the better option here. I still am waiting for the flagship SE p series.

True a lot of people are forgetting this is to replace the or a step up from the M600i, so to compare with the P990 isn't fair as the P700i has a lot of the same features only improved upon, yet as ares has mentioned we may well be getting the improved software for the p990 in the next update!

So i will not judge this phone as a replacement for the P990 as it is the M600's replacement, but with the improvements already present i cant wait for the P990's replacement!

The M600's replacement, but with a P series title? I'm not convinced. Personally I think this is the replacement for the P990, despite the fact it's flipless and carries the M's keyboard. There's plenty of evidence to suggest that an M610i is on the cards too, which would be the proper replacement for the M600. Remember the "M" series is aimed at messaging users who don't want a camera - ie, the corporate market - and the P700 is no substitute for that, on account of the whopping great camera on the back of it.

There may well be an even greater phone in the works - presumably with GPS - but will it be a flipper like the P990? I really don't think so. Now that they've broken the old P series mould with the P700, I think it will stay broken - UIQ3 just doesn't need a flip.

I think we should agree to disagree on this one for as long as it is released as it is, it is certainly not a replacement for the P990i, and if are to keep with the no camera form factor of the M600 and release a M610 then it isn't a direct replacement for that either so with the P700 is a new breed of animal in a P990, M600 hybrid form!

As for the flip, they should keep it as it is with the option of removal as i much prefer to use the P990 with the flip on!

I beleive that the p700 is a replacement for the m600, but shouldn't we all wait for the p990 replacement? surely se is planning to do that too? personally the p700 has a few specs that are slightly better than the m600 and the p990 but wouldn't do a leap and buy one unless i see the p990's successor....

Hi all,

I think the P700 offers one huge advantage over current UIQ3 that even if they are given a new OS with all the additional benefits they will still only have 64mb Ram installed.

To me it does look like SE have learnt from their mistakes and are now installing sufficient Ram and hopefully will never dare released unfinished products as they did again.

As great as this new device is it is still lacking quite a few features HSDPA for one as this is no longer a breaking tech and the benefits for Data users is huge. VGA 640x480 @30fps whilst not essential does seem to be desired by many and a Sip client really should be included by now also.

This device needs to start shipping quite soon in my opinion as otherwise it's only real benefit is the Ram the rest of the spec is current not future at all IMHO.

Boinng, its not the P990 replacement...that is already projected and will come later

I personaly think the wiser for P990 owners is to wait, there are enough reasons for that, even knowing the P700 is atractive
