heh! i just noticed that the M600 and the P700 have the space (separator sign) on the "0" key! thats different from other sony ericsson phones, and as most of you know, thats where the nokia phones keep their key!

when i bought this phone i preferred to type using the on screen keyboard because writing with the keyboard seems so hard and confusing(even if i can write on pc keyboard eyes shut) but now, i use the m600 keyboard every time i need to write. and now i can do it really fast

Really love the Keypad on my M600, and agree its the best in my eyes, very fast, very accurate for me! A perfect solution to the stupidly wide email devices (i cant stand a wide phone!)...

Im definately hooked on it and the P700 will be replacing it!

Also, T9 has to be off at all times!!!

so if the T9 is off: you tap Q once if you want it to write Q, and tap it twice if you want W?

well, i actually went ahead and bought this phone because of the keyboard for emailing and texting at work. (boring retail store) and it kicks ass. i tried blackberry pearl and didnt like it, however that roller ball or whatever it is on pearl is much better than a jog dial.
the down side is that u gotta use both of ur hands to type and it isnt comfortable to type with one, at least for me.

No, if you press to the left of the key you get Q, push to the right and you get W...

Takes a bit of getting used to as you rock the keys rather than press them (after time you get used to placing your thumbs on the keys and rocking them rather than going for a full press)...

It's a brilliant design, I just hope SE have it patented. It took some getting used to at first, as if you're used to using T9 on an ordinary phone keypad it takes a while for your brain to adjust to the fact that this isn't the same, despite looking like an ordinary phone keypad.. but once you get past that it's fast as anything.

I can see the look of it still confuses some people who haven't tried it... the M600's keypad doesn't use any predictive system*, it really is exactly like a full Qwerty keyboard, they've just cleverly replaced each pair of standard keys with one rockable key... pick one up and try it and you'll soon get the idea.

* actually there is a predictive system that guesses words for you, but it's not necessary to the way the keypad works, and many people turn it off. I quite like it myself.

The m600 doesn't use t9. It uses a word prediction system which is genious imo. Eg. If i type dev, it will suggest development and i just need to press the enter key. Once u've mastered this, it becomes extremely fast!

Yea i like the predictive text as well, similar to the ones in WM devices. Love the keypad, only reason why i ditched the O2 Atom to get this
