@v3x, core duo is not just a gimick..its really the best breed of desktop processors money can buy today...
As for AMD, theyre good. I personally use an AMDx2 based lappy and can vouch for it..however only concern is the heat generated by it.. peformance wise is geat..but not as good s the core duos.. [:)]

Personally, my 3.4Ghz Pentium D (dual core w00t) is perfect. Combined clock speed of 6Ghz is pretty much unrivalled and I absolutely love it.
Shame my 1.3Ghz iBook performs better but thats because windows is awful.
