I use 2.62 on a voda-ireland e61 - no beep. just, everytime you turn on pvr, you have to acknowledge that by using it you may be breaking a law... I've got the original firmware (never updated - voda-ireland released e61 fairly late, it seems at that point firmware was pretty much sorted...no probs at all, so I never saw a need to update... my e61 is at home, so I can't check fw-number right now)....
btw, I checked with a solicitor here in Ireland who I do some work for, and he basically confirmed what maggflodd said below: there are countless scenarios where you are quite entitled to record secretly: maggflodd's sexual harrassment example is one such scenario, suspicion of fraud etc etc... are also possible reasons (nanny cams, remember!! employers "supervising" staff!!! etc etc...)...

and i've definitely come across other dictaphone-apps on the market that offer no-beep option... so maybe it's a regional/nation-specific software issue??? I see court reporters almost every week in court rooms here who use some kind of dictaphone (phone or mini recorder) that don't beep - if they were beeping they'd be up for contempt...

It's the same with totalvoicerecorder-no beep on s60v3 except for n95.

yeah same with another program called btcall recorder.it seems the no beep option does not work with the n95 .how is this possible anyone?yet it works on all other s60v3 as we've been hearing.
