se is focusing more on mid range fones, a kind of strategy, which could turn good out, for example cybershot and walkman fones for every budget. but there is a big negative in that, same as by sony itself. u can buy sony products in a wide palette, and i am not sure that a 50 gbp sony product offers u the same quality as a 200 gbp products, lets say digicams, mp3 player whatever. as i see, se is moving in this direction...

I think that the P1 is a buy time phone for SE. It has no new feature to impress prospect buyers. Besides, many features are remnants of the old proto design such as bottom docking station, slow wi fi, etc. But if SE had no smartphone to announce on 8 th May, it would be a desaster for SE.
So even SE knew quite well that P1 would become somewhat outdated upon release, Se had no choice. P1 had to be released.
The rumor of Nokia N82 should make SE realized that more advanced features than Nokia N82 must be added to the next SE smartphone such as Synbian 9.5, 5 MP camera with sophisticated features, GPS, Wi Fi, advanced Voice Command, VGA touch screen, etc. That should be a good news for all SE fans.

Taking it from experience . . I am very certain that the

5 MP camfone (regardless of model, should have AF though) . . . will BEAT any 5 MP of Nokia (perhaps with any other celfone brands too) . . . I based my experience with those of:

K750 vs N70 and N90 - 2 MP arena !

we have no idea what features k850i has... why do you think its delayed so much.... im assuming they wanted to make some changes as perhaps

thought it wasnt a big enough upgrade from k800i to realease, i mean comparing to whats on market now and whats coming soon from other manufacturers....
and if the newly announced t650i can happily record vga video @30fps in a 12mm package, then im sure sofia will be able too.... about the wifi, gps etc, we know the high end k series phone each year is very much camera focused... but it seems these camera decives need to be specd up a bit starting from this year to better compete..... camera wise though, k850 photos are better. ive got some proto samples here, the photos are, IMHO, slightly better than n95... (and im not saying that coz i like

better) but then the n82 is coming this year too, maybe its camera is better than n95, who knows....
in terms of competitor for n95, wait for p990 successor, end of year.....

consider this thread. Think about it carefully. Now, i begin to think that Nokia is rushing their tech development. Doesn't this show how careful SE move? c'mon guys, SE definitely release high end phone in the year, i heard they actually swap the order of phone release: low to mid range for first half and mid to high in the second half.
Doesn't this mean that SE has not yet show their true self for 2007 until this point? Yet, i can already see some really really great solutions for mid range: T250, K550, W660, S500, T650, W880, although the latter is towards high end, this are absolutely great phone. The innovative technology is more on the phone size and the light effect, which does make different for styling purpose. This is what most users want.. not a mere high tech.
No need to worry about no 5MP phone is released by sony ericsson until this point, its only may. there is still way to go for high end phone. If they really have done with the low-mid range solution for this year, expect for some great high-end solution for the next announcement guys!!!

By then N95 succesor with even more kick-ass specs (like xenon flash, optical zoom, dvb-h, vga screen) will be selling. The new spanking P990 successor can only compete with the by then an "old, end-of-lifecycle" N95.

the K850 will only be a 5MP camera phone not a smart phone so it woulnt be able to compete over all with N95 but it will take away sales from N95 as people may only want a good camera phone not GPS Wi fy etc and will cost half as much as the N95i

i think integrating GPS into a K-series is a bad idea!
i mean its supposed to be an affordable high-end phone!
i guess P and M series deserve a GPS better!!
