needn't worry about the iPhone only because they aren't in the same league.


Apple clearly supports the US mobile market. couldn't care less.
Apple's iPod line supports both Windows and Mac. is strictly PC-only.
Apple's iTunes software does everything. D2P software is a joke.
Apple's iPod products have a standard 3.5mm headphone jack. doesn't know what that is.


While the iPhone lacks 3G, so does any product with the 850 MHz band.

I'm no fan of the iPhone, but it does more for me as an American mobile device user than anything from that works in my country.

Apple will be successful with their iPhone, simply because they are Apple - some people will but it just because of that.

Other manufacturers need not worry about them entering the market though. As a matter of fact, I think the competition will be healthy and advantageous for consumers.

And its (likely) compatibility with other iPod accessories (even can't say that for very long!)...

I'd be seriously considering the iPhone if not for the following.

it's "version 1.0" which in the real world means "beta 0.9"
non-removable battery
no 3G
no SIM-free model
price


I may was well buy an N95 (for which Nokia is providing its own sync support for calendars, contacts, and music from iTunes!)...

Nokia has lots of smartphone experience
user-replaceable battery
no 3G ... in the US
available SIM-free
almost the same price

I'm SERIOUSLY awaiting my provider to purchase an upgrade software & network package for Glenayre Visual Voicemail (thats what Cingular is using with APple interfacing with it. Remember this point on your SO CALLED OS Beta 0.9 for later reference).

SIM - Free model doesn't matter as much in Europe when your in the same Geographical area; course I"m assuming but with a market TETHING at saturation, roaming rates should be dirt cheap or equal. Shit you get unlmted data while roaming. Here in the N.A continent they take your BALLS while roaming. Most ppl in US/Canada have nationwide incoming calls from same provider or another, including SMS. so SIM - Free no big deal unless you leave the country. Me on such a coveted phone, I'm NOT leaving Toronto to visit family in Brooklyn with that phone - proper muggings would be deserved! Go backup. Period.

NOW, everyone STILL doesn't get that this iPHONE runs OS X FULL BLOWN just tweaked for the screensize, and interface. You BETTER BELIEVE that with a SE BLuetooth styli that their Pen Technology (long patented & hidden even to MOST die-hard mac users) would be awesome on this. OS 10.1.1 was debuted in 2000 on stage to developers & not 1, yes NOT 1 hiccup, or backup machine was brought on to show its features first hand. GOOGLE it and you'll see JUST WHY NOKIA advertises their push for "this is what computers have become". Symbian is NOT ready for that just yeat, 2 more years I say and it will. Remember APPLE is THE MOST INNOVATIVE COMPUTER COMPANY WORLDWIDE! So remember, this is a phone that runs OS X fullblown, ppl.

Name 1 phone OS that in the past 3 years since Glenayre Visual "ICE" voicemail has been ready?!

Apple.

(just not my taste but be prepared for MS Mobile 6 AKU4.x to enable this in a BIG way).

There is STILL the ability for 3G networks & phone users to LEAVE a visual voicemail and for you to RETRIEVE and VIEW that visual voicemail, but I have YET year of a provider provide such a solution, but Glenayre offers it.

tbh I found visual voicemail to be the most boring part of the iphone.

The latest rumour is that tmob may get the iphone in europe!

Still waiting for a full independent review of this phone, its due next month and still nothing yet.

iPHONE pwns all SE phones. its slick, its superb, and if it sells like hell, i dont think apple will be welcomed anymore by SE like it is now.

doesn't welcome Apple at all. It just so happens the phones' capabilities allow them to work extremely well with the iSync utility in OS X.

Nokia, OTOH, strongly and natively supports Apple. They supply via their web site plug-ins for iSync and iTunes. could learn a thing or two from them.
