I've been to wap.yahoo.com
www.esato.com and even downloaded pictures and ringtones from my own webserver by directly typing in the link to the midi file and the gif file. So yes, you can go to other sites too.
IrDA is an Infrared data port for your PC, most laptops have them built in. You can get one for about $40 on e-bay just search for IrDA and there will be plenty USB-2-IrDA adapters. Under XP they are really easy to set up and file transfer is like drag-and-drop no external software needed or anything.....

Don't know if this might help, but maybe unlocking the phone might help (Instructions below). I used this to unlock my old Voicestream-branded T28w (allowed me to use other SIMs overseas). Don't know if this would allow you to add custom GPRS/WAP settings though (don't know how locked the T300's firmware might be).
My T39m is a factory-direct unit from Ericsson, so it's completely customizable.
I was planning on getting a T300 tomorrow from CompUSA, unlock it, then send it to a friend in Europe as a gift. It would really suck if custom settings can't be made.

My only problem is that even with the DNS added and/or the IP used for the mail server the GPRS connection does not allow me to download e-mails. I think this is how T-mobile is trying to distiguish between T-zones and T-mobile internet. While you can get 10MB of T-zones for $10 you can only get 2MB of T-mobile Internet for the same price, even though it is the same stinkin' data service...... Kind of makes me mad.... I also don't think that they have that $5 plan any more although I haven't called them about it yet. I am still awaiting for my response on their on-line support thingie.....
However the firmware of the T300 IS T-mobile customized. It will have the t-mobile ringtone several T-mobile background, it will have a T-zones icon in place of the WAP icon, it will have the uneditable T-mobile data connections set up standard that cannot be deleted or edited (note that new ones can be added) and it has the T-mobile icon on the battery cover.
Mine has Firmware version R1C001 (this is the only one for this phone so far)
And it has a customization MS CDA102086/8 R3A which is the T-mobile firmware customization.
If your friend can re-flash it with a standard firmware overseas that would preferably have his/her languages in it and no T-mobile crap he/she'd be better off than just removing the sim lock......
BTW I am familiar with the sim unlock process T-mobile is pretty good about it.
I hope that there is another solution to my problem so I could finally check my e-mail form my phone and not only from the crappy wap interface.....

I have downloaded one additional to the 4 that were pre-installed, don't ask me which one I don't have my phone with me (I'm not allowed to use it until my birthday, dec 15th).
It is really easy to download the new games from wap.sonyericsson.com just go into the games menu and select the bottom option that talks about getting more games.....

Can you go on any site using your T300 with t-Zones or are you only limmited to certain sites like mMode(AT&T) you can go on as many sites as you want to?

I am not quite suer what you mean by what sites you can go to with your phone..... WAP is a standard a subset of HTML with limitations, the T300 has WAP 2.0 so it has colors and the latest features. However only pages that are specifically designed for phone viewing (wap pages) can be viewed on it. So don't expect to go to any page and start surfing it. But for example Ebay has a wap page at
www.ebay.com that can be viewed on your phone and I'm sure more and more pages will be popping up. Note that I am new to this thing myself so I am not sure what else is out there.....

YEap noticed the same thing,
e-mail menu in messages on T-mobile/USA/ can't find the server he only way to check up e-mail is trough wap. But if you open phone can't open mail.yahoo.com or wap.mail.yahoo.com and tells you some kid of buls. the only way is to go through wap.yahoo.com click on usa and so on.
