Thanks guys,
Altemyr, I've just done that (thanks) and it's still broken, which is disappointing. It means I have to randomly press "yes" and "no" as I go through the setup menu now
tranced, thanks for that, I'd very much like to update the fw but I need to know whether or not I need to push some buttons on my phone during the process, or whether i can control it all through my computer and SEUS. My worry is that I get halfway through to be faced with a mobile prompt and not be able to fulfill it, and screw the phone up. If I can do it all through my computer then it would be doable.

don't do it just cause i said so, but as far as i am aware, the entire proces is automatic. the only thing you have to do with the phone is turn it off and remove the battery, plug the cable in, and press and hold the c button while you insert the battery. then SEUS should detect it and you shoul dbe able to go through all the prompts on the computer before finally it starts installing the upgrade.

Your phone is screwed up already,
so you don't have very much to loose. If such a problem should have occurred on my phone, I would take it to a service centre, however. There is a possibility that the problem is covered by the waranty.

in my case i only had select and info
well all u have to do is to bring it the SE Service Centre and they'll flash the latest firmware for u
NOTE: all the files u kept in it will be gone. if u wanna save them just plug the usb cable and u will still be able to browse.
this happened to my w550i a few days ago
so i just went to the service center and got it repaired
since it was a sceond hand phone i suffered alot but i had the last laugh!
haha
don't worry too much
go to the service center if u still have the warranty
its a software prob
now i'm happy with my phone!!!!
