The problem is I don't use that stupid menu when turning the phone on and off. It's useless in normal phone usage. Then I went on a plane for 10 hours. I turned the phone off in the beggining, but a couple of hours later I thought "maybe I could play with my P990 to kill time!". And I couldn't turn it on because it would go directly to radio functions on (and I would probably kill everyone onborad, not time). If I had that menu, I could choose flight mode, true, but I would have to had thought about it before entering the plane. It's ridiculous. Maybe you've never had a nokia phone and are used to this in SE, but it is much more practical.

And Mr[NiK], kids stealing phones isn't really something I worry about...
And if that really was to protect stolen phones, it would be necessary to have a SIM card inside to flash the phone, too...

ive had a nokia and still have one alongside my m600. frankly, i prefer to have it permanently on, as i am completely arsed off with having to wait what seems like hours for the damn thing to start up, so i simply select flight mode from the power menu and leave it on all the time.

and frankly theres next to no chance of a phone affecting the plane for the small amount of time it would take to turn it on then get to flight mode (approx. 2-3 mins)

Yes, andrewkeith5, there are correct solutions and there are workarounds...
