Having been down this avenue many times in the past, this is what happens!
They pull you over and you get the regulation standard ticket, and the car has to be taken to an MOT station by you, fitted with the correct style number plates!
You then take the ticket and the new MOT certificate to the Police station and that's that.
Cost = MOT fee + Hassle!
My opinion not worth the hassle!

My dad's not going to like it if he reads this.
He just bought a number plate for £900 and was planning on getting letters and stuff modified to make them spell out our surname (well sort of anyway). Oh dear...

I've seen people with the wrong style plates who have been pulled over a few times in bournemouth. They dont like it round here as a lot of their cars have the cameras to recognise the plates on cars and when the camera cant read the plate (they cant read these black and white ones) they pull the car over.

There are plenty of registration plates with 617 on anyway why would you need to modify one?

Doesn't matter if it's a day old that's what you have to do!!
The MOT is proof you are displaying correctly.

To use the black and white plates the vehicle has to be registered before 1973. If you want the irish plates then you have to take your car to ireland to be MOT'd (or equivelant) and registered.
