From what I've read and from the tactility of my P990 I can safely say the front frame (encompassing the screen and keyboard) is made of metal, so designed to protect the frame against cracking as a result of wear and tear from closing the flip (lesson learnt from earlier P9xx series). And this little design decision has succeeded, no screen frame crack reported AFAIK. The rest of the housing however is made of plastic.

Dude seriously, stop making yourself look silly. There is NO metal on the casing of the p990. Think about the weight and cost it'd add to the unit. And if you hold it in your hand you can just feel that it's all plastic. Try lightly tapping the bits you think are metal with a finger nail or something.

I'm kinda glad it's not metal aswell, because again it'd add more weight to an already bulky device.

doesn't anyone want to make a sacrifice? take out the case and bend it until it breaks. if t breaks. then we will know if it's metal or not

Just dismantled my P990 as curiosity got the better of me!!

It seems that the casing is indeed made of plastic but with a thin coat of metal around the screen and keypad which then runs off too make contact with a spring attached to the Main circuit board of the phone, which leads me to think it must be Metal as oppose to a painted finish!
