I used Voda internet earlier on today. So far so good. YouTube videos are good and the speed seems to have picked up too.

Dogmann:

Deprogrammed?

I presume you are saying I'm some sort of Vodafone drone? A Voda-drone perhaps? If you knew me at all, you would know i'm nothing of the sort.

I'll give you my own personal reasons behind why I feel vodafones new VMI service is better:

Functionality:

VMI has a full network rendering solution which compresses and formats the web page you are viewing to make it suitable for your phones display, this also reduces the size of the page meaning you use less bytes (saves loads of MB's and money, nice)

Also it has a fully integrated google search on the VMI homepage and PC bookmaking with "followMe" technology which allows you to take your home pc favourites with you (Nice touch, makes its personal)

Full email and banking aggregation. As well as major brand partnerships, google, amazon, ebay, youtube, mypace, pricerunner etc. Who have all created specially designed webpages for mobile viewing on VMI (Which again save bytes, nice)

Handset Coverage:

Also the fact that you can us VMI on any wap enabled phone to get full internet access,

Yup that’s right, over 150 handset from Vodafones current and past range can get the full internet on there phone from today! Nobody else can offer that to all of there customers can they? (Nope)

Now that’s true mobile internet. For everyone, not just a select few who have the latest handsets.

You might say 120mb is nothing but with it being compressed and reformatted it’s more than enough for the average consumer.

So let’s looks at the facts:

Full internet with all the crap compressed out of it to save MB's, full big brand partnerships, Full handset and consumer coverage and you can link it up to your home PC and take your favourites with you.

Now that’s just great in my eyes.

Oh and by the way I'm an o2 customer not a Vodafone one!

Oh and another thing, I was a work today for 9 hours so I think I'll let that explain my "Quietness"

Cheers

Super

So vodas network actually compresses the web page you navigate to before loading? Not just the web pages they are in partnership with (ebay etc)? Surely this would slow browsing down, although being a good feature?

yeah it compresses the page before viewing it, it slows it down a bit but when your on 3g or hsdpa you don't notice it,

I've been using it on my n95 all day and its been a total blast, I finally have the web at work, Woo Hoo

Just to give an example of the usage:

You can get:

500 Full webpages,
500 Mobile webpages
70 E-mails

Watch 15 minutes of video (You Tube)
Download 10 Mp3 tracks
Download 10 Ringtones
Download 10 Pictures (Porn in most cases lol)
Download 10 Games

Within the 120 MB usage, which in my view is more than enough for consumers.

@Superluminova,

It may be your opinion that is more than enough for most customers and you may also think that all those cool link ups are great to. But i want to go where I want to and with the full uncompressed Internet and the sites i want to visit and how ever you want to dress it up the fact is it is much more expensive the the offerings from the other Networks that allow you to go and do what you want. A few little extras will not compensate for bigger bills so sorry but IMO i don't see any of the claims you made being true not even close I'm afraid. What you think is great and everyone else is going to do is founded on what basis exactly? only the fact it allows you justify these charges is all i can think of. Oh and lastly what you quote as usage for a month is severely limited in my opinion so how much of your 120mb have you used in 1 day then? remembering as soon as you have used this it is going to cost you £2 per MB. Maybe your right and it will suit some users but as i have a Nokia with probably the best built in browser i really don't want compressed pages and want it all as it should be as that is replicating the desktop experience to the full not an Opera mini cut down compressed experience. Which ever way you try and justify it doesn't touch either the T-Mobile or 3 services. It will be interesting to see how much your 1 months usage works out costing you as i am pretty sure you will exceed this paltry amounts of their allowances.

The same as in my previous post, I feel the speed is going faster than the usual and I'm using a W810, nothing 3G or HSDPA.

Hi all,

Oh yes nearly forgot whilst i was on the VODA site i looked at the wonderful shortcuts that you can send to your phone and you can only send 5. The other point i would make is if this price structure is so good why are VodaFone already looking at releasing new tariffs and even their staff admit it is not yet competitive. With the others you know what your maximum cost is going to be with Voda you risk being charged £2 per MB if you go over 120mb so will suddenly end up with a large bill at the end of the month. There is no doubt this is better than before if you are a Voda customer but i really doubt this is going to attract Data users from other Networks or even stop heavy Data users from leaving Voda either.

having just looked at Supper's last post with a breakdown of what 120mb gives you

500 Full webpages,
500 Mobile webpages
70 E-mails

You really think that sort of usage is going to last a month and i take by Mobile Web pages you mean Wap who wants to use Wap that is in no way the full Internet experience and 70 E-mails a month you are kidding right most people would both send and receive that in a week or even less. I really think you have got very excited and bought the hype and unfortunately IMO the reality falls very short of being good for anyone but VodaFone's pocket.

I think if your a lower user the Voda tariffs are ok, but for example if you have a N95 or any other of the many phones that will launch soon with podcasting your screwed! If you use the n95, and download the BBC news podcast at 30mb each day, you'll only get 4!

i personally feel that people who are complaining too much about how much data you are getting and for what price are relying too much on their mobile phones as an internet only device.i think the break down of usage that supernova gave for the service is sufficent.if your wanting unlimited or alot more access then i am sorry but i think you should just end up getting broadband installed at home etc.end of the day its a mobile phone which allows you access to the internet.you should not just use it as a sole internet only device and expect every company to offere you unlimited or loads of internet access like t mobile are doin.as i said if thats what you want then buy a mac with broadband access.its like people complainin that my phone only has a 3mega pixel camera or 5.i mean god sake buy a digital camera if thats all you want.end of day the internet is a feature of a mobile phone and people need to quit complainin in my opinion in how much data options mobile companys are offering.
