I used to care about this too until I got an N73 Music Edition. The K800's non-walkman music player beats the crap out of the N73's music player, hands-down.

Hi Shaliron,
thank you for all the wonderful insider's info so far.
to me, there are considerably difference in normal Bass setting compared to Megabass settings. Actually i prefer better sound than interface because once i started my music player i'll gladly leave the phone in my pocket. but having a good sound on the go is important to me.
Any idea how much cost are me talking about here with the inclusion of only 1 megabass sound setting? why would SE happily miss that out? is it that difficult to include just one sound setting?
and any idea will there be any update version of w960i that will come with the HSDPA chip? Thanks
Megabass is software and would add $0 to the price of the K850. The reason why it does have it, is because it's just meant to be more camera focused and Megabass is a music feature.
Unfortunately, as silly as that sounds, that's just what you'll have to deal with.
But yes, there is a hint of a real W950 successor, and I'd expect it to have HSDPA. The W950>W960 is like the K800>K810. There's still a real successor coming. But it may be until next year.

Hi shaliron,
a real W950 successor with HSDPA will be great!! I really hope it can materialize this time. Well if that's the case I think I'll get myself a W960i 1st while waiting for the real thing. I almost went to get the N95 today but at last I still can't accept the ugly look no matter how good the phone is.
And to all the forumers here, pardon my bad english but my original intention was just to gather everyone's opinions on SE's move towards divergence, but sadly it seems like this is turning into another Nokia VS SE thread again
Moderator please close this thread since no one is interested to give their opinions on whether it's a good thing to have walkman and camera on separate phone. At least for me it is not. Anyway, it's pointless to just see ppl come in here and bash nokia or SE in this thread, I really don't want to start another war here.
Thank you all for your time and I think we all shall stop here before everything turns ugly again
peace~

@en0203, don't be discouraged, your thread is a good idea and I'm sure there'll be more constructive comments. Regarding MegaBass, shaliron is right, it doesn't cost anything to implement it, but it is one way to differentiate the Walkman and Cybershot phones. If all Cybershot phones have MegaBass, wouldn't you be less inclined to buy a Walkman phone too?

Sorry, gotta continue in another post as I'm using Opera Mini and there's a text limit. Anyway, @en0203, as you've mentioned, you do not need a nice media player, but would prefer to have MegaBass. I believe most people think the same way, so it makes business sense to use MegaBass as one of the ways to differentiate their products. Of course, if you ask me, I'd like to have everything in one device, and I'm sure most people want that, isn't it?

K850 is just about as maximum convergence you'll get in an affordable price. W960 is what you get at a hefty price.
