I'm jst curious: what 13 apps for k750 take up 23mb's?

yep - the biggest app for my e61 is 2mb, but most are under or around 1mb, and they are "smart-apps"

Each is a street map created with this:

they vary in size between about 2MB and 10MB.

Not really, I'm not sure there's much that can be done. Strangely the delay seems worse when you've had the phone switched off. When you then first open that folder it's very slow, subsequent openings are (mostly, but not always) much faster.

So when you turn on your phone, give it 2-3 minutes to read all your files from the memory stick. Actually with 1gb card I give my W800 about 5-8 minutes, and then try to open the applications/games folders which goes fast.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Since it's presumably only reading the filenames rather than the files themselves I'd have expected it to be virtually instant though.
