I think maybe if some applications API lets you do this, you can measure the distance if you know the maximum distance for bluetooth used in phone and signal strenght. That's it. As goldenface said you cannot calculate position in 2d without having 3 points in space. And there is one important thing - they should know their own position in space to locate fourth phone.

No need to talk about diff towers etc like gps as the radar system works from a single point using the rotation of the sensor to pin point exact distance and location(think of a phones infrared sensor that has to point to another device).bluetooth picks up from all directions at once so it simply cannot be done and also the current range of bluetooth is way too close.so simply put it's not possible with the tech out right now...unless they make long range spinning infrared sensor...lol

Bingo! Instead of searching for a phone, just call it. "Dude, I'm at Nordstroms. Where are you?"
As stated before, bluetooth is too short-range. If you could locate his phone with bt then you could probably see him.

You can't find direction and distance with bluetooth. To do that you'd need atleast 2 sensors and some very sensitive hardware to find out where the signal is coming from.

Well i had the program you want (bluetooth radar) on my S60 phone and uninstalled on the same day ... its really uselless like the others says. It only detects if the phone you want is near you but the range is the same provided by the phone itself and it doesnt show the relative position between the 2. So its the same like search for devices on the built in bluetooth manager of the phone
