@Boing
Unlike you i wouldn't touch a P1 even if it was free an extra 64mb RAM whilst being extremely nice and useful is the only update to what was already an old and outdated spec. Never mind the WiFi being only b no HSDPA in a data centric device and the ever increasing speeds it offers really dates any device and puts it at a major disadvantage not just now but for the life of the product. Not of course forgetting not knowing for how long or if at all SE will decide to support the device either doesn't inspire confidence.

razec, its a matter of maths...it the P1 has more than 4 times the free RAM of the P990 all the time, you donīt need anyone to make expirements to know it will handle ALOT of app at the same time...imagine running TomTom, Fring, Opera, Opera Mini and Agile Messenger at the same time, plus contacts, calendar and messaging, and still have memory left

sounds great doesn't it?

I have pre-orders in all the usual places so its just a matter of who gets 'em first!

Its still waaaaaaaaaaay behind the Nokia E90 communicator.
I would like SE to make one that beats this amazing device.
The P1 is sh*t compared to it, too inferior.
EXAMPLE: I would like SE to STOP F***ING IMPLEMENTING ONLY Wi-Fi B and start EQUIPPING B/G FOR GOD'S SAKE.

You should get a grip of yourself. Really, you should. What on earth would you use B/G for on a mobile phone????

@Dogmann, we've had this debate a dozen times already, let's just agree to disagree. I've yet to hear a single coherent reason why I need HSDPA (the data-centric mantra doesn't cut it, what's the application?) and we're already hearing from reviewers that this phone runs significantly faster than it's predecessors, and is one of the best multitaskers available now, in spite of all the hyperbole about it's "outdated" spec, and some of your own predictions on how this device would perform. I just think we're coming at this from too completely different angles - you stick to your spec sheets, I'll stick to what actually works in the real world...

I like that answer very much. I couldn't have put it better myself, Marc has been shouting in every thread the same argument (which I respect totally). I've been meaning to get a good reply, you did it for me thanks.
However for the Wifi thing, if fewer and fewer acces point authorize or support wifi B, it's a shame but it's not a problem at home and 3G (old flava) is still here.
SE I've been waiting for a little while now, give me the damn phone.
Does anyone think there is a chance to see SE upgrade the P1 to 9.2 when it's released? any hardware problem for this upgrade to occur?

I am fully with you Boinng. P1 will prove to be a super smartphone. It was wise from SE to put all those features in such a small form factor. E90 may be better regarding specs but its look and size is too much for me, absolutely non acceptable and even unpractical as, for example, I cant imagine writing a mail with one hand using E90 qwerty while walking.

@Boing
Would you care to point out to me any predictions i have made about how this device will perform as all i can remember saying is that the extra 64mb Ram will be very useful? I have also said and stick by the lack of HSDPA and WiFi b not the speed issue but the fact if you use this device in a Network it slows all the faster device's down and may not be seen in as many Hot spots as a result of this.
Also i still say and stick with my opinion that the now very old Nexperia chip is also holding back this devices performance from what it could be, even Motorola in their first UIQ device have gone with an OMAP chip for better performance and graphics plus of course HSDPA.
If you really believe that HSDPA is of no relevance could you please explain to me why SE have put in the K850 and other devices just not there smart phones? Why so many other manufacturers are all equipping there devices with it and finally why all the Networks are spending vast amounts of money rolling out this according to you pointless upgrade. As i am really curious to understanding what you have founded your assumptions on? and how all these big companies and me could be so wrong as obviously you appear to know something we all don't please share what you know.

razec, 9.2 has no real advantages over 9.1...

I personally have no problems with using 3G on my phone. I have used many HSDPA devices, including datacards etc and to be honest unless I'm downloading something I very rarely see the difference. I'm quite happy with just using 3G to be honest.
For WIFI, I have my own wifi network at home which I use my P990 on every now and then, I'm not overly bothered if the network slows down because even B is enough for my actual broadband connection. I might see a difference if I was transfering data between two devices locally in my network but I hardly ever do that too.
To summarise I wouldn't turn down the option to have HSDPA and/or WIFI g in the device, but it doesn't concern me too much
