no profiles: I agree
no call recording: after all is against the law and I wouldn't like to know that someone is recording my call
HSDPA: maybe, depends whom you are adressing. This is supposed to be a business phone; do you really need it on a busineess use? I would rather prefer to have a better sw to read and modify documents and pdf

Guys i cannot find any major flaws on my m600i, and to be honest i dont think another phone in the market fulfill my needs as the m600 has done...

Of course i dont have the problem with the contacts because i dont have so many contacts, so i cannot comment on that.

I will have the phone until it will be unusable, and then i will buy the upgraded m600 that will be in the market at that time...

Upgraded M600? What's there now is all there's going to be. SE announced no more updates for the M600. It's marked End Of Life.

When you guys say "No Profiles" do you mean there is no easy way/NO way to set the phone to Silent, Meeting, Offline etc?

If so - this is supposed to be a business phone. No way SE would leave out something like this on a Business Phone... That would be plain silly.... or careless!

as I recall, no SE symbian phone has ever had profiles except through 3rd party software such as magic profiles, not even the P800 you are using for your avatar

it is strange that they continue to omit this feature

Masseur, I'm pretty sure the P800 had it. In fact - yup. 100% sure. It even had Aeroplace mode. My cousin now has the P800 so I'll check to see how to access the Profiles

masseur is right. All SE's P series do not come with any profiles support by default. Flight Mode yes, but no profiles support by default. UIQ 2.x can use 3rd party app like the amazing Magic Profiles Pro, but UIQ 3 devices are out of luck due to Symbian Signed requirements

The P1i's contact is based on M600i's contact app, so there is no dedicated "find" option like the one found on P990i. Actually, there are 2 3rd party apps can do much better than even P990i's 'find' feature. You guys may try out AquaCalendar 5.x and DreamConnect 3.x. Both will automatically search for all characters on all fields when you use your QWERTY keyboard to type in the name of your contact.

Hi tecmobility, whether or not it is against the law, doesn't seem to stop NK S60 phones from doing so. We have to take into consideration that S60 sells about 10 times more than any P series since day 1. So the chances of our calls being recorded by S60 users is very high and worse of all, we cannot 'counter record' those conversations when talking to those users of S60 devices. Actually, the problem lies on the Philips Nexperia application processor that was used on all the P series (including UIQ 2.x devices that uses older generation of Nexperia chips). The Nexperia does not have this feature built into the chip and using 'against the law' is merely an excuse by SE imho. Look at their non Symbian models, most mid to high end models are still able to record calls right?

As for the argument of 1/2 QWERTY vs full QWERTY. I owned both P990i and M600i, and for me, the P990i's full QWERTY keyboard is much better than my M600i (that's only my preference of course). The P1i is following the M600i, but is a little worse off, cos if anyone noticed, the spacebar is exactly the same size as any of the other keys on the keypad. This makes it very prone for us to tap on the wrong keys becos we are all so used to longer spacebar key. Even M600i's spacebar key is longer than the one on P1i, and of course, the P990i's spacebar key is even longer than M600i's. I had tried the P1i during CommunicAsia 2007 in June and even SE guys over there admitted about this spacebar key being too short cos they themselves also kept keying in the wrong key when trying to hit the spacebar.

So true. K750 is able to record calls. For me that is the biggest flaw of P1 and every P model in general (and I had P900, P910 and now P990).

edit: is it better now residentevil
