Sounds like you've found a bug in your software, as I can't think of any user configurable setting that would affect this. If it really bothers you, I guess you could try a re-flash via SEUS.

No you're right, it seems the answer was to do a master reset, with the 'delete all user data' box unchecked....

Yeah I just saw that. I've never done a master reset. I assume it wipes everything off my phone and I'll have to re-install internet and SMS settings?

Well still no go after a master reset. I still can't see ANY files in any folder when trying to change icons. I assume it's firmware related at this point.
