Im in the same boat, i cant play with the p1i without actually purchasing it. I went as far as buying a dummy phone of the m600i just so that i could get the feel for the rocker keys and form factor. Im a former blackberry pearl user so the key design on p1i is almost the same as what i was used to with the pearl. now im debatting on getting the p1i or waiting to see what the w960i will offer. But the dummy phone was helpful. my .02

I started with the P990 and switched to the M600. Much prefere the M600 style qwerty, as soon as your used to it its very intuitive and I feel the buttons are easier to press than the P990. I much prefer the M600 UI, especially as the screen isn't recessed like the P990, it makes the touch screen more functional with thumb use. I'm using a pearl curently as my M600 had an accident, used a mates M600 the other day and was straight back into speed typing with keypad, its perfect for email use in my eyes, its like thumb touch typing!

Just waiting for my P1 to arrive now, bloody postal strike means it probably won't be until Monday now!

the only reason i'd swap will be its memory management, in which P1 has got the better of P990i, that's all. i used my P990i extensively and it's very unstable. almost impossible opening 2 applications at the same time. for example, browsing with opera whilst keeping the IM+ open will cause me an imminent shut down, and it's memory leakage have not been bearable. but if that thing don't happen to you and u can live with it, carry on, P990i is a great piece of a mobile phone. it's size are just great to hold, especially with the the flip off. but since i have sold my P990i and with my W950i still don't work things out, i have to stick with my o2 ATOM life until P1 arrived

I will NOT switch.
I have P990. I've played with P1.
P1 does not have full search function in contacts, doesn't have separate lock key, and it's not REALLY one hand operation like P990 with flip.
PLus - the same processor, so apps are the same.
So, if it's your 1st Pseries, buy it!
But I would stay with P990 and wait for a REAL new P.

Ive been using my p990 for a while now, but decided its time for the p1, many ppl say the keyboard is just a matter of getting used to, and after good experience, it serves more faster in typing than the P990 type qwerty keypad, as the p990's buttons are extremely small, i believe its a good idea to put two keys on one button, saves space, but just a matter of getting used to. and one thing i missed after i started using the p990 is not having a weight in your pocket, im not saying the p1 is slim, but its definately thinner than the p990, which i came to realise when i took a break from my p990 and went back me good old w810 for a week. overall, its a matter of getting used to, imo the p1 is an answer to the cries of p990 owners, and the pain we have suffered waiting patiently for the firmware update that will solve all of our problems. Goodbye P990, *sheds a tear*
