the market will hold true for whether or not SE moves up.

Motorola continues to offer pitiful products, so I'm not surprised by their tanking, but their exclusive deals with service providers gives them a staunch position in the avg. phone buyer market.

I'd love to see what the distribution of sales is in different markets between unlocked vs service provided phones...should clue in strategy decisions for companies (e.g. SE).

nokia sucks trust me.
from time to time i see people in my store buying nokia, they only want nokia, even when they themselves admit that nokia has got many problems, that their new phones suck.
why they buy it? because they don't want to give anything else a try, they think they are smart, smarter then me (yea right).
working in a phone store and buying a very smart person like me is a pain from time to time, you really ask yourself why are so many people dumb?
wouldn't the world be a better place without them...

lets keep such a discusion away from esato please. their are all types of people here on esato, i myself do not hide that i'm an extreem right minded person, but if their is 1 thing people all over the world share here then its their love for SE.

Quite true but a lot of people would say that this is how Moto got into trouble in the first place. Operators wouldn't be able to offer such good deals unless Moto was offering their handsets for next to nothing and in the end its Moto's profits that are swallowed up.

I really do hope they recover as it would be a shame if they went the same way as Siemens Mobile.

Yep moto actually make quality handsets, and I've always liked the UI, though the camera UI needed LOT'S of work - it's crap.

I'd say Moto has the capacity to make some great handsets if they would just get things rolling. It needs to carve itself out a niche and excel at it.

Its never been strong in imaging IMO but design has been one of their strong points and multimedia maybe too.

They may do an SE and forge ahead with lot's of new models. They are a big company, I can't see them giving up the ghost to easily, so we should see them pull it together hopefully.

But I still hope SE whip their ass I'd like to see SE number one obviously, but that's not gonna happen for a while. In the meantime I reckon Nokia then SE, with Samsung and Motorola hovering around 3rd and 4th places is possible in the near future.

He he me too, but I don't think it will be anytime soon for the simple reason that SE is still making inroads in the huge emerging markets where Nokia has traditionally held a massive lead for a long time, and the US market is split in half too, so it can never have more than a split percentage there.

Siemens was once huge and they merged with BenQ before they went under. Moto might need to jump into bed with LG if things don't turn around soon
