As i said before, the few times I gort a message error in Opera about it not finding the server, I ignored it, entered a web address and it took me to the website.
Have you tried that or do you close Opera as soon as it says it can't reach the server?
Can you retrieve your mail from a POP3 mailbox while connected to your Wlan?

Had similar problem at home.. could't get the WLAN work..
Searched Esato and found: disable the POWER Save function (can't remeber where it was)
After that it worked directly..
(as we speak the WLAN app hanged when searching for WLAN (at work))

@ mhjerpe, are you sure you're mixing up the power save function with Windows Mobile since I have never seen this feature on the menus of my M600, P990 or P1.

It's probably your handset. It was a piece of cake for me.

I agree!! Of all the times I've done a WLAN search and tried to connect, there have only been 2 times that I wasn't able to connect, but in those cases I was trying to connect to a network had 1 bar of signal strength (though there was a 3rd case where I was actually able to connect to a Starbucks hotspot even at 1 bar).

This might seem a little extreme:

what about doing a master reset (dont forget to back up the files) and see if it is able to connect before doing any changes to the setting or installing anything?

From what I read, that's pretty much what I did when I got my P1i, not even setting it in "internet group", and it connected alright to my router with WPA key.

just my 2 cent

regarding the issue of the phone rebooting when scanning for WLAN, it MIGHT be when stumbling through a WLAN with WPA2.

I haven't had the occasion to do some testing to validate this theory yet but if one you has the opportunity, please do the test and report here so we can pass the word to SE and try to get it fixed.

I cannot FOR THE LIFE OF ME log on via WLAN!

Are you able to access your router's config in Opera?

I've had the phone reboot 3 times while scanning in a particular location for wifi, but only there! Sadly I didn't have a laptop or anything else to see any info about the network at the time, and its a hour+ away.
