the usual suggestion, of course, is to switch to fight mode

Not sure that I want a phone in fight mode beside my bed!

PS. Good Idea - I'll try it in Flight mode 2nite

That's rubbish, 3 alarms and the handset has to be turned on for all of them! Why did SE bother, you may as well just set a calendar appt. I slept in this morning thanks to this rubbish alarm feature! I don't want the radiation from a mobile phone by my bedside as I'm sleeping, not to mention the fact that the battery life will be impaired. I also like to give my phone a bit of a rest, I don't like it being on 24/7! Tut-tut SE, the alarm is an important feature for me.

As masseur said. Alarm does not work when your phone is switched off.
You can't watch TV with the TV set off.

Hahaha right on! It's funny since I've never heard of this being such a big issue. To me, I would assume if I turn off the phone that it'll STAY OFF and that it isn't in "hybernation mode" waiting to pop up when it's time for a alarm. Otherwise that kind of defeats the purpose of it being off. It's like asking your computer to boot itself up at 8PM to record monday night football. Ain't gonna happen unless it's on already. I agree with Masseur though...if the radiation bothers you so much then flight mode is the best option.

Peace out!

That argument doesn't hold up though because most other phones on the market allow the alarm to sound when switched off. I mean, your phone still remembers the time doesn't it?

Hee-Haw to do with radiation - just don't want woken up until I need to be up!
Anybody with anything important enough to speak to me in the middle of the night will have the house phone number!!!

I kind of liked that my old t610 woke up and issued the alarm/appointment even since it had been shutoff due to low battery, but since the damn think "woke up" and gave me very angry looks from my fellow passengers iin the airplane on a holiday trip a few years ago i started to remove the battery to be sure it stayed silent when going on the plane.

Actually mine does. The recording software (mythtv) sets the bios auto-startup feature to the next recording and then shuts itself down. So it can happen. =)

Yes my phone still remembers the time. That's a given, even a computer does that when it's off. The question really is do I want my phone to really be ringing when I want it off (someone do a poll). Also is the assertion that most phones on the market sound the alarm proven? I've had quite a few phones and they all stayed off regardless of the alarm (perhaps I just happend to get the phones that didn't have this feature).

Funny, unless that's a recent development, I'm pretty sure my bios doesn't have a auto-startup feature (unless it's a hidden feature). Still I've always thought it'd be cool to make my computer do that ^^
