Please don't drag this thread down to the usual rubbish standard. People are really bored of it atm.

Is the difference of a few thousand pixels really that important?

imo thats ok to talk about the screen, cos atm only nokia offers the most developed one, so a nokia is the only comperable screen, nothing else. but still interested, who decides what product may hit eu market and why? arent we that important for se? at lesat 50% is european in se jointventure...

@boba

If the Japanese chipmaker that makes the components were to use their resources ramping up production to 'go global' then they would effectively put themselves at a disadvantage with their competitors who would forge ahead of them technologically, plus there has to be enough demand to make it economically worthwhile.

Right now, a few models with 16m colour screens probably isn't enough for them to take that risk.

Thats what I understand anyway. Maybe xumdeo could explain it better.

ok, lets be fair. se made a big step in the 16m screen way, so se fans should be very happy atm, BUT if i were one, i would feel disappoinmnet too, cos when i am from the uk or even sweden, i have nothing from it, maybe if i am in osaka or tokyo...

what i wanna say is, that se is teasing their fans, but also "punish"... so this would make me more angry, then nokia has got a better screen, cos my beloved brand forgot me...

its really time to move on for se... just take a look at k850 and image in with a 16m screen. imo a 5 mp cam would have deserved it, to join th epix in really great quality. me seems this fone ( in the first post ) have some common marks with s700 design

Yeah, I thought it was similar to the S700i, especially the location of the camera lens - made to look like a Sony Cyber-shot camera.

Really, I think any screens larger than say 2.9 inch should have a higher resolution than QVGA or WQVGA. The pixels become large when the screens reach this size.

Actually, the specifications say WVGA which is much higher than the WQVGA I thought it was. These are not official but a huge jump regardless.

EDIT: WVGA = (or WGA) 800×480 or 384,000 pixels, which is a huge leap if those specs are true.

This is still only a rumour and nothing is confirmed but that would be a great screen and the best in the SE range by a long stretch.

WVGA, great! And we'll get them........in 2009, if we're lucky.....

Good point on MP, too, Boba! Sony will give(ok, sell) I-Mobile their 5mp CCD lens, yet SE get nothing but garbage CMOS(ok, not garbage, but certainly nowhere near CCD)......
