yeah, but I'd rather get it as a free firmware update than as a paid-for upgrade.

isn't opera freeware nowadays? It was free when i got it to my P900.

Opera desktop and opera mini are free. opera mobile, opera DS and opera wii(unless you were a beta user) aren't.

Not sure if they give you free upgrades though for opera mobile.

i'm not a nintendo ds owner, but i was looking at them the other day inpaticularly the opera browser for it and it was branded opera 9. does anyone have any ideas what could be expected in mobile 9? personally i hope they add the features of the mini beta with a better rss feeder(than 8.6), widgit support. can anyone confirm these in the nintendo ds version?

try downloading the new Opera 9.5 alpha for computers(to see how some new features could be implemented), and the Opera mini 4 beta 2.

they laim they'll support widgets, which would be cool but difficult and processor intensive I guess.

expect full history search(where you can type in a word, and it will find it even within the pages in your history rather than just the title.)

Speed dial would be another feature where you can save 9 shortcuts to be associated with the keys on your phone.

Intelligent zoom a la the wii will be there. You can view the whole page zoomed out and zoom in to just where you want to.

and its probably just a generic vector sketch, but in their teaser banner, the phone illustration matches up perfectly with my P1i down to the screen to body ratio and the body curves. maybe they're hinting at something?

I'm assuming that mobile Opera 9 should work with 64MB RAM. Since not too many phones yet have 128 MB it makes sense to design it for 64 MB.
In which case, we should demand it from SE since the current version does not fulfill the white paper specifications - and I have a copy of it stored in a safe place so deleting from the web page will not help SE.
If we just expect and wait we all know that SE will just wait and forget.
I think the best way is for everyone to submit a support form requesting Opera to support plug-ins as stated in the specifications. That way it will be logged in their system and I think this is the only way it will ever show up on their list of to do s.

I think the main problem isn't that Sony lied about Opera supporting phones with less memory, its more that they didn't anticipate the usage of the phones at all and thought that most users would use an app at a time or the phone would automatically close other apps when needed.

Opera is very lightweight so should have run either way.
That said, I think Opera 9 might run better since the new engine they have is faster, less processor intensive and takes less memory(from using the new desktop alpha build)
