An upgrade to the latest firmware is the real solution... the resetting seems to happen when certain types of networks are in range but this was resolved with R6E30...

Yes, I thought as much.

Would I be right in thinking that you debranded your O2 (I assume you're on O2) handset to be able to take on R6E30?

i've got an o2 branded p1i and i have to say that the WLAN is working even better than i expected. Only been scanning from my house but it hasn't reset once.

in fact WLAN on the p1i has far exceeded my expectations - i was worried about only having wifi b but its plenty fast enough...

The 'b' thing never bothered me - I mean how much data do you need to transfer between a phone/PDA and the internet! 11Mb/sec is MORE than enough

I wonder if it's something to do with the router then? It's a DLink 2000+ AP which I think is pretty much bog standard (b and g and it's already in mixed mode). I'll maybe try with a 'b' only router I have next week.

When I talked to O2 they said they wouldn't provide support for the WLAN feature but would be happy to exchange the phone within my 18month contract if it really is faulty. So I'll wait until I've tried a few more things and also for O2 to approve the R6E30 firmware and see if that makes a difference.

Certainly don't want to go for something like the N95, more than happy with the other features on the P1i
