You can brick the phone if you stop in the middle of the flashing process, but can be repaired if you flash it again...

I've been plagued with a K800 that I keep sending back to be fixed. They keep fixing certain aspects (corrupt text messages, rebooting) but other problems still persist and this is one of them.
If you don't want to actually re-flash, I've found that this problem only occurs when you try to download java applications and install them over the internet connection on your phone. I downloaded the files to my PC and copied them over and this worked fine. Give it a go.
That said, does anyone have the Google maps .jar or other files that they can point us to? I can't get to the download page from my PC - it only likes using autodetect for your version as far as I can see.

Hi DBE,
Which method did you use? (Firmware fashing or Filesystem flashing) Can you please share the files you used? I have the same problem for over two months now and online updates haven't worked for me either.
Also would be really great if you can point me to a *newbie* guide to replicating your methods.

Access the service menu on your phone:
At the main screen( the screen with the clock,date,wallpaper,) with keypad unlocked:
push joystick right
press the star* button
push joystick left twice
press star again
push joystick left again
(Ignore the shortcuts that might activate while doing the above, just continue)
A service menu will now pop up. Goto service info > software info
The top line should read: R1KG001
Check the line above the FIRST "Memory Stick" line, (eg. mine is EUROPE_2), write this down. This is the region for the file system firmware you will need to download
Finding the links to the firmwares is the hard part,
I found mine @
http://www.iprotebe.cz :K800_R1KG001_FS_CENT_EUROPE_RED52
Although this is FS FW is actually EUROPE_4 (and not EUROPE_2) it worked fine on my phone.

SEUS is 'part' flash thah is why your contact/data is preserve (and why your problem is not resolved). Use XS++ to do complete flash where it overwrites everything on your phone (your data will be gone as well).
