Nope. Wait for the activity light to stop flashing then switch the caddy off using it's own power switch. The read/write head is parked as long as the activity light is off. Unmounting it makes no difference at all, the head could still move even if the computer isn't talking to it.

Yup. and ripping 2000 cds isn't the quickest job in the world either!!


oh, Don't worry cyco, got one of them pesky surge protectors but I don't trust it as far as i can throw it. albeit there's a good £3k of computers and hi-fi attached to it :S
