That's not really the issue here though. How long will it be before this information is 'made available to a few, carefully selected organisations in order to allow them to offer you a better service'?

It would be if they rang me up at 9 oclock in the evening to tell me about it like they normally do
Some of us object strongly to cold calling and the marketing techniques behind it, that's all. If I want a particular product or service, I will do the research myself and make my own decision in my own good time.
Many people have been duped into paying more money for poorer quality services through pushy sales people working for big name companies. The more information that can be gathered about us, the more information these unscrupulous corporate arseholes will ultimately have to target us with.

That info is already designed to be 'shared' with 100's of gov.-agencies! Even if they were all 'kosher', multiply that by 1000's of agency employees...with godknowswhat of issues???
@mweb, that argument doesn't hold as you cannot predict what might become 'unacceptable' in the future! We had being jewish, black, muslim, feminist, communist, christian, atheist, animal friend, porn lover, anti gm activist, wifi-borrower....
Etc...so, being ok now, may well make you 'of interest' in a term or so!
