You're absolutely right, a quick google tells me that "Lenses use refraction to focus light, but glass and other materials cannot refract X-rays."
Back to the drawing board...

what i suggest is that...
Clark should wear frames... with no glasses... just to save time moving the glasses down and do whatever it is that he would like to do...
good thing tho, he doesnt shout up up and away no mo......

I think because its a convex lens that it spreads out his xray vision and Superman being the superhero he is, doesn't want to look through everything that might be in his path of vision, even Lois Lane. So without the glasses on he can control what he wants to look through....

Well, no because that's what refraction is

glass lenses don't spread x-rays out apparently.
Any more ideas?

You assuming that these 'x-rays' are coming from outside and entering his eyes through his glasses.
I thought he had X-Ray vision, whereby it was all in his eyes; light would enter his eyes in the normal fashion, then his x-ray vision would process it.
I don't think he actually sends out x-rays from his eyes, or does he
So, its my guess that the glasses he wears are part of his disguise as Clark Kent and to make it more realistic, he has chosen authentic specs, with lenses in them like the bottom of lemonade bottles, so he has to remove them to see properly.

Come on, real x-ray doesn't work like that, he uses some other means unknown to us. And i suppose a pair of glass lenses would not distort his vision in any way. So the reason he lowers his glasses may be to distinguish the two characters (Clark and Supes) apart, as Masseur has previously stated.

No, no, no you're missing the point!
We're not talking about dramatic effect and director's skills here. What's the science behind it in superman world?
I should imagine that he does emit something from his eyes which go through the things he wants to see behind at will, and reflect off the other things that he actually wants to see.
In which case, my original assumption may be correct, the glasses might interfere with his special rays.

Yea you would have thought that Lois or Jimmy would have found clarks clothes and put 2 and 2 together... or even better the amount of time Lois spends with Superman AND Clark, she should have realised he is Superman hmm lets say maybe the 2nd time she saw him lol
On a different note, anyone seen Superman:Doomsday yet?
