My mate had the same problem, but with his K810i.

He did a Master Reset and it fixed the problem. But it shouldnt be doing it in the first place, you're right.

Perhaps, I'll try a master reset after I get off work!

I'm just trying to figure out what the phone is doing because the counter seems to be increasing while there isn't any real usage. Hopefully the master reset will fix the issue.

it's the phone sending network messages
i don't know if the option exists on the k850i
but on older nokia phones you had the option for the phone to confirm before it sends network messages

btw are you on o2

if so i no the network requires the sim to send a message when the sim is inserted in a new phone (it knows this because of the imei) then it responds with the correct mms and gprs settings

You might be right, I remember that from the old Nokia's.

We do not have O2 here. AT&T is my service provider.

On Vodafone here in NZ, the sim cards have a whole bunch options. You go into the sim menu and choose options and it automatically sends a text to Vodafone requesting info and Vodafone will send back the info such as account balances etc. These services mostly are free.

My V630i counts this as sending a text even though it its not made obvious that a text was sent (all it says is "The info will be sent to you in a text message")

I would assume your sim cards from oter countries are similar if not the same... Maybe this is the problem?
