What i mean is what PIM are you syncing with?

Oh, the only thing I forgot to mention. Office Outlook 2007. There aren't a lot of PIMs that pc suite can work with.

there's an update with that FMA trick. sync worked for the second time as well. might be a coincidence, of course, but it's worth trying if you have these problems. I'm happy.

Everytime i sync my contact, some of them end up duplicated on my P990i. My outlook contacts are not duplicated so why is it happening to my phone?

Also i can seem to get my update service to work. With reasonable download speeds i can be online for 2 hr and i cant seem to get past 55%. What real advantage does the current update give against the software that came with the P990i?

Outlook

It has always been fine until recently?

Very annoying

Anyone have any ideas?

I read somewhere that someone was having a problem with contacts that had pictures.

You could try removing the contact pictures, see if that helps.

Which process in the task manager locks the CPU to 100%?

You should expand that column in the task manager to find it. You can then work out which app is actually causing the problem, SE PCSuite or outlook.

I notice when I start to sync, a error message "synccontroller.exe" fail.

From vista event log it shows APPSCRASH, really no idea the issue was from SE or outlook 2007 ...

I had one like that on the old pc- suite (on XP). It wouldn't work if there were no physical com- ports on the system. Probably because the com- component that driver uses depends on the Windows interface already running.. or something of that sort.

edit: btw, this is where the drivers register themselves:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet###\Control\Class\
Under that, in the different controlsets, there should be several entries with a "Sony Ericsson" string, so just search. And unless you're extremely unlucky and there's some other component interfering with the driver - just uninstalling the pc- suite, removing all the Sony Ericsson entries there, and then reinstalling the pc- suite.. should probably fix the connection problems.

The synccontroller is part of the PC Suite all right. Sounds like Nipsens' tip would be a good next step.
