A new adventure:
While trying to connect the P1i to a WLan card using an Ad-Hoc connection, and after many trials (Vista was badly configured), a new problem arose:
> The P1i no longer finished the login to the card. The connection message box froze and the phone became barely usable.
After some 10 reboots and failed retries, I also became aware of another problem:
> The phone no longer can connect to the PC in Phone mode, although the File Transfer mode was fine!
I decided to hard-reset the phone and both problems were gone!
I later restored the last backup with success.
This is my second hard-reset in less than a week, but I'm glad it's so easy to fix things up!
I have no complains of the SE backup/restore system as yet.

Dear All
I'm new in this forum and I've just bought a new P1i for which I'm facing the "first" troubles after some days of work.
I've installed OperaMini and 3 icons are still in the system and I'm not able to delete them: I've arranged the reset from the system several time but without success. How can exit from this loop?
Many thanks to everybody!
Regards

I am unable to do backups on my SE P1i. Can anyone identify the problem as I would like to check for the latest firmware and is unable to do this until I have done the backup.

II've managed to make my backups work again by deleting my old backups folder on the PC.
Even if it works, remember to also make a backup to Outlook. Messages, address book and calendar are the most important.

If I update the firmware, would I lose any of the functionality of the applications saved on the memory card? I guess the reason I am not able to backup is due to an installed third party application.

I recommend you always take the memory card prom the phone (one less problem to worry about).
I believe you will not loose any 3rd party apps installed on it.

Sounds like you are not installing on a login account with administrative rights.
