@WokinghamUse

Don't blame Symbian blame SE and their PC Suite.

Had the same troubles. If I delete older backups and uncheck / check all the items to back up it works. I guess the trick with the delete of older backups did it. But it looks like a bug.

Yes, you can do that. But what if then you can't backup and loose the older ones alltogether?

i made a full backup, and full restore, including 3rd party apps, and all went well like never before...

only some apps were not restored, like swiss manager, but that is a specific problem of those apps coding, AFAIK

I found that, 'twas a minor irritation to re-install them.

Just unticking the backup of Unified Inbox always works for me. I then make a separate backup of just the Unified Inbox which usually goes through without problems. This has been a "feature" of all UIQ3 phones. Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, I followed only part of your instructions and was successful:

1. changed the USB port
2. deleted old backups and Backup Archive folder
3. uninstalled a trial application that was past trial period (as per today): it was Easy Search
4. I did NOT reboot XP, nor did I re-install PC Suite.
5. I backed up first the contacts, calendar, settings, notes, unified inbox but I did not check apps/multimedia: this gave me the first success
6. Then I backed up just apps and multimedia: success

Hope this will save you time

hey guys,

I have a W960i and I was also getting the backup canceled by phone error but I read somewhere here that unchecking the "Unified Inbox" would set things right. Anyway I tried it and it works perfectly now. I left everything checked except "Unified Inbox."

Anyway, I just wanted to confirm that it worked. No need to uninstall anything.

regards,

lorsban
