@Miss UK

Does your laptop have a card reader if so you can put the card in the computer and transfer it to that you should also be able to change the format. As when i was still using Sonic stage all the Albums i bought through it were burnt to CD for in car use and not in ATRAC. i don't have it any longer so can't look at really can't remember what the options are but there definitely are some besides ATRAC. must be honest since getting an iPod and using iTunes what a difference in ease of use as said by others Sonic stage sucks big time IMO.

Hmm, if Sonicstage can burn a cd (I thought it might be able to), then you can rip an mp3 from the cd. However, keep in mind "free" tracks offered via promotions are often completely forward locked. For example I downloaded a free wma audio track the other day (from the Courier Mail newspaper) and the drm prevents it even being burnt onto cd. It will only play through Windows Media Player on my computer. Atleast the DRM audio tracks you pay for you can usually burn a cd. (otherwise they contravene your "free use" rights under the law).

But if you didn't pay for it, you have no rights at all. Fair enough I suppose, but forcing people to download crap like sonicstage just to promote an artist is stupid marketing imho.
