> W910i Recalled by Orange And Sony Ericsson
Bookmark topic
Orange has been forced to recall a number of new Sony Ericsson W910i handsets as faulty models plagued the first batch.
Complaints peaked last week, but both Sony Ericsson and Orange say the problem is now resolved. Affected customers can call the Sony Ericsson customer services team or return faulty handsets to Orange stores.
One dealer said: 'They are extremely unreliable. It's the third one I've had and it keeps switching itself off and won't answer calls.' He added that the phone is 'brilliant when it works'.
According to a spokesman for Orange, 'only a small number were affected'. He added: 'We're working with Sony Ericsson and we'll have a resolution early this week.'
Meanwhile, Sony Ericsson said: 'The issue has now been fixed and the W910i is selling well in Orange retail.' The manufacturer refused to comment on how many handsets were affected.

I've had 3 so far, no issues.
Why have you had 3 if they've had no problems? XD

Sony Ericsson W910 First Shipment, Recalled - The phone turns off after 10 seconds
Sony Ericsson W910 has been taken off the market after a great number of such mobile phones presented various problems. Unsatisfied customers are returning them at a great rate, much to the panic of Orange stores and the producer as well.
It's a real shame to see that Sony Ericsson seems to be experiencing problems with its W910 phone model as well. After all, it was one of the most appealing and evolved devices that this producer recently brought out on the market.
Among the errors that Sony Ericsson W910 seems to be packing is that it switches itself off after ten seconds and does not answer calls. These are pretty shocking issues with the device, as they are actually the most basic features that a cellular is supposed to handle, like staying turned on when the battery is full and allowing the user to place and receive calls.
Orange offered a new mobile phone instead of the faulty one to all customers that came in to complain about their purchases. Still, this didn't seem to solve the problem, as many of them returned just a few days later to complain that the new device had the same problems. This led to Orange's decision of recalling the first shipment of Sony Ericsson W910.
The handset is one of the top devices that Orange had to offer in its lineup. With 3G, a huge 2.4 inch screen and 2 megapixel camera the phone proves to be one of the most evolved from this producer's Walkman line of devices. Still, the situation is even more shameful as the number of handsets coming from this producer which have been reported to have software or design problems has been pretty high over the years.
The producer now claims that all problems have been solved and that Sony Ericsson W910 is ready to meet its owners at Orange retail stores.

Hi all,
Is it just me or does SE's testing and quality control seem to have gone totally down the pain of late we all know which devices have had problems any one care to say which haven't?
Really not good and before anyone says well but it's Orange software who do you think brands the case and software SE of course or do you think virgin W910 arrive at Orange and then they change the firmware and adjust the casings?

Well Orange are ultimately responsible for their own particular brand of FW and of course they don't brand the devices externally, that is done as part of the manufacturing process.
However, this recall business its getting a bit sillly. How many times do they think customers are going to put up with having to send phones back? They really need to get stuff like this right first time.

have

actually recalled all first shipments of stock? or just Orange's first batch?
And in the UK only correct?
Ive sold two red sim free ones alread, one to darkkrypt, he seems happy with his, and one to a mate, also with no problems. i have not seen any recalls for any other stock worldwide, or has there been
@dogmann
i dont understand, i mean, ive played exstensively with a branded w910 here in australia, it has no problems. I dont see why some network branded phones are stable, and other network firmwares are faulty. something needs to be done.........
currently it seems sim free/unbranded ones are running ok.... i keep reading bout branded phone problems here.....

Well its Orange branded ones only according to mobiletoday.
Is it a coincidence that their versions also turn out to be amongst the most heavily branded?
