@sanjeevjaya, very true. That's why most times I stay out of such debates even if they start off in a civil manner. Having been around for some time now, I know most debates turn into no holds barred arguments and the thread usually ends up locked (for better of course).
It seems very often, we do not know how to respect the opinions of others. Facts such as the specifications of a mobile phone are one thing, having actually used the phone and having your own opinion about it is another. I choose not to participate in most debates as I know there's usually nothing to be gained from them.

It used to be that a fact was a fact and an opinion was an opinion, and both were respected.
It used to be that the general feel of Esato was one of enthusiastic joy instead of hostility.
I fully agree with what residentevil said about bloated egos.

I agree 100% with what you guys are saying. Gone are the days where fellow esato forumers had an open mind, a sense of humor and could discuss things in a civil manner. Nowadays, I rarely post but just lurk in the background and just read.
I try to stay out of the way because I feel there is not much substance to be discussed, just mindless bickering and time wasting. Posts back in the good old days were more informative than posts these days. Nowadays I just feel that everyone has an opinion and worst part is they think they are right all the time and defend it to death. Most posts in the forums these days are just opinions only. Gone are most of the technical and informative stuff. :rolleyes:
Such is how I feel about Esato now. Its been that way for the past year or two now.

It just defeats the purpose of Esato. the purpose of esato is to have a place to discuss things related to phones and have HEALTHY arguement, express everyone's opinions and widen the knowledge of everyone here. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out... just my 2 cents worth...

People COME and GO here at Esato . . . this has been an ISSUE here in 2003/2004 if I can remember . . . and SOME of the peeps included in the debate before are now . . . . GONE

I second the motion of this topic. Objectivity, maturity and respect are lacking in some comments from members. It's not always and shouldn't be about Nokia vs SE or Symbian vs WM! We have to accept and respect that other members will have different view points as well as tastes, and insulting them will not help anyone except earn the poster a bad reputation. People can learn a lot from members like MASSEUR who is extremely helpful without being sarcastic or downtreading anyone, as well as contributing objectively in discussion topics.

1. An information useful site so that we can help people buy good phones.
2.Help people who have problems with their phones.
3.Explain features of phones to people who are less technically minded.
4.Above all:let SE hear our says and try to improve their product range!!!!!!
