do you mean T68 rather than T68i? because, as I recall it, T68i came out around 3 months after T68 but there was alot of chatter about the T68 which I can also see searching back through the posts

I'm pretty sure that the T68i took longer than 3 months to appear after the original, but you maybe right... you usually are!

However, the point remains - the t68/t68i was the most talked about phone, on Esato at any rate, for one reason. All the other phones mentioned in this thread appeared later, at times when there were other serious rivals that were being discussed.
When the t68/t68i appeared, it was truly one of a kind and thought of as revolutionary. Obviously, the following is just a complete guess to illustrate a point, but I would speculate that perhaps 75% of all threads relating to mobile phones on esato at the time, were devoted to this one phone. I very much doubt any other phones in later times came close to sharing that kind of a spotlight.

P990?

the P800 was supposed to be my first SE but i deferred. and i guess i was not mistaken. the P1 though is offering a lot of promise aside from its bonus of having a 3.2 MP camera
i guess its obvious. P990 simply did not live up to THE hype.

cheers, mates!

Most hyped SE has to be the p800 - everybody wanted it - it did everything you could ever ever want a phone to do - didn't it?

Absolutely correct, i waited a long time for it, paid over the odds for it and then bought a 128mn Duo for £49.99

Was it worth the wait?? Too right it was

I think the P990i is stable enough with the latest firmware. It just needs more RAM.

Most over-hyped phone? K850i! Although I am a big fan (but not a groupie!) of Sony Ericsson, I am disappointed how they treat the Cyber-shot brand.
With the latest Cyber-shot models I feel one vowel in the brand name could be replaced with an asterisk: Cyber-sh*t!

The latest top-end device is always the most hyped up and it has to be as well, otherwise all the folk with more money than they can spend won't know about it.

SE takes 9 months to give birth to P800 which was overhyped in it's time as it is the most advanced phone ever made in it's time, and as a tester/user of that cute smart phone i would say it's worth all the hype it had

SE's generally poor response started when they announced P990 which takes a year to release and yet with the same number of bugs found in it's beta version. - this smartphone did not get too overhyped since E/N-series have been slowly having it's own fan base(remember N80?,N92?,E70?,E61?)).

back to topic, the most hyped phone was nothing other than the P800 but the most controversial one would be W960 - with so much negative impressions coming out. second was the K850
