i had a 4000 series, then rogers told me i should change it just incase its not a 3g sim card (idiots wern't even sure) so i got the new sim (5000 series) and paid 28 dollars for it which will be credited on my next bill

looool, after downloading the settings from sony ericssons website, i tried it again with my friends n73... and it didn't work. So at this point im thinking maybe its not my phone, maybe its the n73 (my friend never got it to work either) so i went to Rogers store and tested it with one of the Rogers Vision phones,,,, and guess what.... k850 was handling video calling even smoother than vision phone. You should have seen the smile on my face and the confused look on the dudes face. He thought only rogers vision phones can handle video calling.

Same thing hapened to me when i was trying to get gprs internet on my k800i. Rogers put the fault on the handset or SE, while SE put it on Rogers.
Finally someone here gave me some help to manually enter the settings i neeeded and everything was fine after that. Receiving the settings by sms from both rogers or SE was not working.
So my guess, since 3g is now available, yes it should work, and the problem is with the newbies working at Rogers.
What you FAIL to understand is that you are TOO a NEWBIE with this phone ... it just came out silly.
Use your EXISTING experience with ANY phone that is capable with MMS.
1) check & RECHECK your settings for MMS.
2) SEND yourself an MMS first, this tells the network switch to ENABLE your ability to SEND/RECEIVE even if its set to a "legacy" state, but it really shouldn't - it should just work.
3) call Rogers to MAKE certain your pkg/plan has MMS enabled.
Cool?
@n4d3r !
Hey dude I got a friend that has a K850i on Rogers and MAY have a solution for you.
Ok try to list ALL the GPRS/3G/MMS settings you have and how you're trying to make a video call. PM me today so I can try to help ya out.
Sorry Prom1, but i don't see the point of your post here...
My point was only that Rogers and SE used me too as their ball in a ping-pong game through their endless phone systems, each one puting the fault on the other. SE said ask Rogers settings to enter them manually, and they gave me only partial settings... more than half was missing.
And i said to the guy that i did find better help here (remember? It was you who helped me and sent me the correct and complete settings).
Finally, what's the point saying i'm a newb? Of course it was the first time i needed these settings. Having another phone to compare with would have been useful. How do you want i know these settings, or that some are missing, if i never saw, used or needed them?
I said that Rogers techs have been useless, they should have got me the same right answer that i got here, simply and quick.

Ok Newb was a bit extreme, sorry for that.
what I meant was that Rogers - most of their reps just make phone calls on their phones with SMS/MMS and thats about it. Common what do expect from a company that does HEAVY branding on the phones that they do support, ahem SELL, and bundles services into packages & add-ons. Also you must remember that with every NEW phone you get - location of where settings go do change.
ROGERS brands phones so they expect settings to be universal for a particular manufacturer. This is the reason for basic settings that usually are NOT sufficient.
Hoping your enjoying your K850i ... btw what DID solve it, the 4000 series SIM card?

it wont work simply bcz rogers use HSDA rather than HSPDA you need a dual 3g band such as the new samsung, im havin the same issue with both my k850 n k800

my video calling worked just fine. i went to rogers wireless store and tried both calling and receiving calls from their vision phone. none of my friends have a cell that has video calling feature so that is the only time i had it working.
that day at the rogers store, my phone had a faster and better quality than their flagship samsung vision phone, so that made my day
If anybody here is from the GTA and owns a k850 we can try it.
