Ok M3 is looking good, I did a small clip to test it. However what profile are people using for their P1i, are they using UIQ3safe or the M600 profile. Can anyone also recommend bitrate settings etc for the P1i

I've asked that very same question to MMPLayer support and they responded:
Hi
I've used video bitrates around 250-300kbps for the P990. The P1 should be faster than that so it should have no problems with the same.

Magnus

i use mine at aroung 650 kbps in mp4 format, however at that framerate the p1 sorta slows down, like exititng the video takes a while, but still, it can handle it, comes out nice and sharp quality.

Well I decided to try the M600 with, if I remember correctly, 350 for video and 64 for audio. haven't tried them on the P1i yet but playing on the laptop they looked good.
@ defiantbeast
I'll have a look at the W950i settings tonight.
@mobilemodman
Whats the average file size you get for a movie at 650kbps

Strange. I don't have that problem. I encode my videos into 320x240 MP4 format with 600kbps video and i think 128kbps AAC stereo 44.1kHz. Playback is probably at 25-30fps cos it isn't jerky at all. Maximizing or minimizing the video to/from fullscreen takes like only 1/2 a sec as does going back and so on.

@denosha
Whats the average file size you get for a movie, say 1.5 hours long and what profile are you using?

why you guys use more than 400 kbs??? it just does not give any noticeable advantage in such a small device
a normal movie (90 minutes) should have the size of around 300mb with proper encoding...
