Apart from those apps listed i also have Birthday manager on my phone. Ever since my nokia 3510 i've never been able to find a phone which when you save an entry for someones birthday you can actually state the year of their birth and as a result when their birthday comes around you actually know how old they are.

This is important to me because i am so bad at remembering birthdays, with this app not only does it tell you someones age, year of birth, but also tells you how many days till thier birthday and various starsign info if you are into that stuff...

For me this feature was dearly missed when i moved on from my 3510, so much so that i never got rid of that phone, now with birthday manager i think i can retire the old 3510.

The built in contact manager on the P1i has birthday reminders, including the year of birth and can add a calendar entry for that contact as well.

Anil, yes Aqua Calendar is great... but I actually prefer using the built in PIM... flaws and all since I'm not fond of redundant functions. Handy Day just came bundled with the rest of the Handy apps that's the only reason I have it. I'm actually fine with the "Today" screen of the P1i as is.

The only function I really missed from my P910i was the "Find" function which is severely crippled in the P1i. Thankfully, Easy Search solved that problem.

Again, to those using Opera Mini... what's the advantage over the Opera browser built into the P1i?

Yes i am aware of the P1i having the birthday function for contacts, but what it does not do which my old 3510 does is say if i enter a friends birthday of 11.5.1980 on the p1, all i know is that every year on the 11th day 5th month i will get a reminder telling me it is someones birthday

On the 3510 what it did, was tell me that on the 11th of the 5th it is someones birthday and they are x years old. It may not seem like a big deal to many, for me however it is a feature i truely did miss, and was over the moon when i found it.

As for opera mini, it is much better than the original browser, essentially the big feature difference is that it offers an overview of the whole screen as you would see it on the pc. And if there is a particular point on the screen which you want to be at, it allows you to click that point via the overview screen, and it'll zoom in, then when you finish looking at that part of the screen zoom out and click somewhere else.

Essentially fitting a large website pages onto the small screen of the p1. Honestly install it, it is free, and if you dont like it, it takes less than two minutes to delete it. Got nothing to loose

with opera mini, webpages are routed through opera's servers and compressed (and probably strips away a lot of junk designed for PC too) before sending them to your phone. therefore, a 1MB webpage may be compressed to something like 40kb instead.

i guess it was originally designed for users to save on data charges, but even if i'm on a plan that doesn't charge me based on data volume, i still love using opera mini because it simply loads pages so much faster than having to wait for a 1MB or so download.

anyway, try it out and see which one you prefer. you can always use both anyway.
