So after the 12 months the phone is basically not within the warranty,
Vodafone wont let you upgrade so what happens if the phone breaks

No. IF the phone is supplied or ordered from a UK dealer (i.e Vodafone UK), the phone is covered by a TWO year warranty.
If the phone malfunctions after the initial 12 months, you are still covered by the manufacturers warranty.

So if it breaks after 12 moths Vodafone will send it to Nokia and have them look at it instead of the Vodafone repair centre

Any Nokia made after June 2005 is covered by a 24 month warranty...
any other manufacturer is only 12 months...

Do they offer a phone swap service?
IE, my 16 month old K800 has stopped vibrating, I phone you up and say so, what happens? you send me a "new" K800 or take mine away for repair?

if they sent the handset to you as in O2, and you did not pick up the handset at the store, they will ask you to send the handset to them, and they will send out the same handset but it will be a refurb, this is done after the 1st 28 days of having the contract, within 1st 28 days its a straight brand new replacement swap.

Im hoping it applies to vodafone aswell
there seems to be some gapping reception btw the Shops and Online with Vodafone, wherea's with 02 the process is simple
