Aren't G signal routers compatible with B?
It's probably a IP, DNS, proxy or firewall problem.
Sorry I can't be more specific...

My Belkin router is connected to a Arris cable modem, which seems to set the ip address for the router, as a result I am unable to get to the settings for the router. I have a P1i and cannot browse on the wireless network. Is there any way to get to the ip address for the router so as to adjust the settings?

Make sure the connection you have created is also included in a group (the right tab). It's a good idea to have the WLAN connection at the top and the GPRS below that.

As you can connect under the DefaultWIFI account you neednt worry about what type of signal you have, if it was G only you wouldn't be able to do this.

To create the account do a scan first and then make a not of the network name, then use this to manually create a new account. Leave most of the settings at their defaults to start with and see if you can connect OK. If you can then try adding encryption and see how you go.

If you get problems with connections dropping out then turn off power save (in the advanced settings). Bear in mind that the range isn't great and don't expect the same speeds you get from a desktop or laptop computer. WLan is limited to 11mbits a sec but should be more than fast enough to run pretty quick on your p1.

If you have problems with web browsing (it connects to the router but then won't browse the web) first make sure you add your wlan account to the internet group, if this doesn't help then try opening the router status page by browsing to its IP address in the web browser. If this works then you may need to manually specify the DNS servers.

I don't think you'll need to do this as you have sucessfully connected and browsed using the DefaultWiFi account.

Easiest way is to type "ipconfig /all" in a windows dos prompt. You should be able to see the router IP from the default gateway of your wlan connection.

This is the normal method of finding the ip address, but with the Arris cable modem which seems to be controlling the router you cannot get to the settings in router using the ip address shown. I need a procedure to access the ip address and settings of the router. I need to adjust the router settings so that I am able to browse on the wireless network with the SE p1i. The problem may also be linked to the Opera browser. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Er ok now getting back to my original thread before nor246ron hijacked it

I can now connect without any encryption or just WEP but still not with WPA, this seems to be the problem, but is it a router or phone issue?
