Jojo, All SE with 320x240 display can playback 3gp, mp4 h.263 and mp4 divx video at 240x320 resoluton (in landscape mode), @ 320Kbps, 25fps.
Later phones, such as K800 etc, can also playback Realplayer 8, WMV 8 video files at 176x144 resolution. K850 can playback real and wmv at 240x320. Not sure about P990 with regards to real and wmc.

Hey JOJO
the best settings for your P990:
first of all: Do not use .3GP
format: .MP4 (encoding does not matter as the P990 cpu can decompress them all)
size: 320x240
framerate: 25
video bitrate: 512kbps
audio: 44100khz 96kbps stereo
all sonyericsson phones from K750 forward can play .MP4s an all from later versions of P990 or K800 can play also uncompressed .WMVs
you can get the best quality to size ratio with the MP4

@chombos - OK, thanks for the proper-setting/configuration back there . . . well, I've just tried playing the videos from the TWO settings mentioned: MPEG-4 and 3gp . . . and both works OK with my P990i . . . though I just made notice a lag in video movement (slow-motion . . .) though NOT that slow . . . with the MPEG-4 setting. While the video in 3gp-format PLAYED just fine (as what I am expecting . . .)
@whizkidd - Thanks so MUCH for posting the LINK ! I've been looking for a converter (FREE) of this kind a loooooong TIME ago

!

K750/K800 era can only playback H.263 or Divx MP4's - H.264 for example won't playback. K850 I think does support H.264. WMV's on K800 yes, but only at 176x144 resolution.

Thanks for all of your INPUTS mates . . . though I've experienced some problems with the conversion . . . what I am doin' is compiling some small-video-clips into one presentation resulting to around 30-50 MB in file size. What I've noticed is that when I compile say, 4-6 short-video-clips into ONE (MPEG-4) . . . the END result will NOT play in my P990i

BUT . . . when I will copy a SINGLE video-clip (1-5 MB in file size) . . . the clip will DO play in my fone . . . NOW, I still would have to CONVERT the COMPILED MPEG-4 video (30-50 MB) to 3gp . . . converting a 30-60 MB takes about 30 minutes

!
Btw, I am using Nero StartSmart when compiling the video-clips . . .

What video codec are you using for the compiled video?

No, software codec, as in H.263, DIVX etc.
SE phones only playback H.263, Divx or 3GP encoded video. If the nero compilation uses for example H.264, or Xvid codecs, then your phone won't be able to play it.
"MP4" is a container, the "codec" is the format of the video within the container. So just being MP4, is not necessarily enough for your phone to support it. The codec within the MP4 has to be supported also. Hope that helps

@max - I will make screen-shot of THAT setting here a BIT later when I am accessing the NERO-software . . .
I guess for the meantime, I will have to make a LIMITED compilation, say, around 20 MB-max

! To make it RUN through . . . or make a single-video-conversion and NOT compiled
Thanks - Mad Max !
