Im with Sky 16mb too and on average i get about 10/11 mb, which is ok i think but still isn't the advertised 16mb. Do you find that you router gets over hot? Mine does and i need to turn it off and let it cool down as it hinders the speed i get, just did a tests now and im only getting 417 kbps.

Yeah, it does get over hot and often will just totally die so my computer loses the internet connection meaning I have to reset the router in order to restore the internet connection :s tbh I would be really happy to get 10/11mb out of my sky broadband but I'm pretty sure that just wont happen any time soon. Anyway, how far do you live from your exchange?

I had the same problem with the Belkin router I used previous to the vodem. I would unplug it and give it a minute or two to cool down.

as already mentioned, speeds up to 7,2Mbit/s is already offered here in Sweden. I have used a Ericsson W21 for some tests at work, but out of the 7,2Mbit/s offered, you only get 3Mbit/s if you are lucky (and 0,2-0,3Mbit/s uplink). But I wouldn't exchange it for my ordinary broadband connection at home (100Mbit/s)

Hi.

Mobile Broadband is being touted as THE big thing in 2008.

I would like to know if anyone is using this yet and is the speed they are getting (3G / 3.5G ) good enough to replace their fixed line broadband service.

Thanks.

I am using broadband mobile while typing this. Though it is capable in theory to reach 7.2mbs but in reality the average speed is about 600-800kbs only. Sometimes I can get around 1.2-1.5mbs

I understand that overall speed has to do with the proximity to the base station and the service provider network.

It comes handy if your on mobile or browsing using a mobile equipment. However I dont think it can totally replace the cable broadband just yet.
